What is the cost of living for living in Bangkok, Thailand? ?
I’m going to study at Ramkhamhaeng University in Bangkok, Thailand in June. I was wondering if anyone knows anything good or bad about the school? What my cost of living will be? && how hard is it to learn Thia? As far as learning Thai, if you take regular classes it is very easy to learn and if you don’t take classes very hard to learn. Cost of living, depending on if you live near the school will be: 1. 1 room flat 4,000 thb per month plus utilities My opinion of Ramkhamhaeng is that there is allot of people hanging around the Uni looking to exploit girls and make money any way they can so have to be very careful of strangers. My advice would be if you can get accepted at any other Uni in Bangkok, to find a different school to go to. If you are stuck going to Ramkhamhaeng my advice is you get out of that school that effort you put in. Meaning you could study, study, study on you own and be super smart teaching yourself most of the curriculum along the way.

Ramkhamhaeng is an open University which means there are no entrance exams or minimum scores to get accepted. I would guess this is why there are probably more students at that Uni than any other in Bangkok. You have students from all corners of Thailand and I would guess educationally they are from the bottom 3rd of the educational rankings. The school is also self-paced which means people are there much longer than the traditional 4 years. I think the whole Uni is not very advantageous to getting a solid education.

Cost of living, depending on if you live near the school will be:
1. 1 room flat 4,000 thb per month plus utilities
2. Electric bill, Cable TV, internet and phone will all be extra
3. Transportation costs to get to and from school everyday. Once again dependent on how far you live from school. If you learn how to take local buses, baht bus, etc. it should be less than 100 thb per day
4. Meals – Can eat local food same as Thai for 30 thb per meal. If you want something like McDonalds cheeseburger set 100 baht. Large Pizza at Pizza Hut or Pizza company 380 thb. Pepsi or coke at 7/11 is 14 baht, bottle water 10 baht. Bag of potato chips 20 baht.
5. You can buy a case of mama noodles and just add hot water to eat cheap for 10 or 15 baht a meal.

Live in Thailand, have some Ramkhamhaeng graduates work for me
Ramkhamhaeng is a university you go to when you can’t get into any other university. As for the cost of living it varies depending on what standard of living you are accustom too. Also will you be paying tuition, books and fees? Does you cost include room and board or just living expenses? Do you need hot water, A/c, are you planning to share a room? Not knowing not many people can give you a good educated guess. Maybe 10,000 to 40,000 baht a month. As for leaning Thai it also depends on the people. Some pick it up easy as for me it’s a up hill struggle. I hope your classes aren’t in Thai.
