My fiance and I are going over for a friend’s wedding late March. We have 5 nights in Koh Samui and 1 night in Phuket. One of the nights in Koh Samui will be at the Full Moon Party for their Hens/Bucks night. I was hoping AU$1000 (approx 30,000 THB) would cover both of us for the week we’re away, any tips?
Figure 1,500 to 2,000 baht a night for a decent Hotel for 6 nights 12,000 baht
Food and Drink per day 1,000 baht for both of you 6,000 baht
Transportation about 200 a day 1,200 baht
Shopping 1,000 baht a day 6,000 baht
Total 25,200 baht

Yes you have enough no problem
Tips: Don’t do drugs if you do and get caught figure a lot more money to pay off the police
Don’t accept drinks from someone you don’t know
If someone gets too friendly too fast beware
Expect to pay more than a Thai would for anything, bargain hard.
Don’t disrespect the King of Thailand
Girls don’t walk alone on the beach at night
Hold on to your purse or bag keep it close to you, people on motorcycle could try to grab it and take off.
Don’t get in a fight with a Thai, you will lose in the long run.
Have fun, party hard but keep your wits about yourself.

For a couple I would budget between 5000 and 6000 baht a day for everything.
You want to enjoy yourselves and do a few trips.
I night in Phuket is not enough – suggest you go to Ao Nang, Krabi instead and then you can do tour of the Islands including Phi Phi.
You say you are going to Full Moon Party – fantastic and you will have a great time.
Word of warning do not take drugs or offer to look after drugs for anyone – Thai Prisons are harsh and the sentencing is Harsher.
Always buy your own drinks and please try not to get drunk.
When going to the full moon party there is no need to take your passport out with you or valuable jewellery and only take out enough money for the night and leave the rest in Hotel safe or deposit box.
Have a wonderful time

yes 30k baht is heaps and heaps. (please read some of my other answers for some detailed costs.) expect to pay a little more in Koh Samui than other areas.
The guy at 7/11 in Samui earns 6000thb a month and he can live so for 1 week you will live like Lords.
You will not spend it all unless you want to do expensive things like balloning etc.

My suggestion as follow,
1)Air ticket Bangkok to Phuket = 1,700 THB (one way)
2)Air ticket Samui to Bangkok = 2,600 THB (one way)
3)Bus ticket Phuket to Samui = 700 THB
4)Hotels(2,500 THB/night) = 15,000 THB
5)Local Transport(100 THB/day) = 600 THB
6)Food & Drink(1,000 THB/day) = 6,000 THB
7)Shopping(500 THB/day) = 3,000 THB
Total 1 – 7 = 29,600 THB/Capita ….OK ~Budget
Have a nice trip in Thailand.
